December 21, 2020 Update

Dear Colleague:

Thank You! CAPS would like to thank you, our members, for your continued support, engagement, and activism! It is through our collective power that we can keep supporting members in need and ensure that our members’ voices are heard. Thank you, too, for all you have continued to do to ensure that California’s public health, agriculture, and natural resources remain protected amidst the chaos that the world has encountered throughout 2020.

We wanted to take this time to wish you, your family, and your friends, a healthy and happy holiday season. As we celebrate in our different ways, we can all be thankful for the solidarity that gives us strength to continue to fight for what is right.

Holiday Informal Time Off. In recognition of the 2020 holiday season, and following historic tradition, Governor Newsom has authorized Holiday Informal Time Off (ITO). For more than thirty years, the Governor has authorized ITO for up to 4 hours for all employees, depending upon time-base. This ITO can be used in December prior to PLP 2020. For most employees, the paid ITO this year will be either December 24 or December 30. Scientists who are required to work these days, or who would be scheduled to work but are on paid leave, can keep the ITO until the end of the Fiscal Year, but after December 2020, must use their PLP 2020 time prior to using ITO. If you encounter issues with your ITO, contact CAPS (caps@capsscientists.org)..

Wishing you safe, happy, and healthy holidays.

In Solidarity,

The CAPS Board of Directors
