April 22, 2024 (Call to Action)

What: Join CAPS UAW, SEIU Local 1000 DLC 787/788, UAW Region 6, and many more for an International Workers’ Day (also known as May Day or International Labor Day) Community Art Build! May Day is an opportunity to honor and celebrate workers’ solidarity, with demonstrations taking place in nearly every single country on Earth. Were it not for the tremendous sacrifices of those in the labor movement who came before us, State Scientists would not have many of the gains that we enjoy today, such as the 40-hour work week, paid time off, and other important workers’ protections. However, there remains much more work to be done, such as winning fair pay and benefits for State Scientists, and maximizing flexibility and autonomy. Will you join your colleagues to preserve, protect, and defend workers’ rights, and renew your commitment to the struggle for a fair and equitable workplace?

You must use your own time to attend the event. Bring your colleagues, friends, and family members! From 12-1pm, the event will feature a ‘No to RTO – Power Hour’ where we invite all state employees to come on down and take part in anti-RTO (return to office) union actions, such as signing petitions; listening to speakers discuss the problems with RTO and what we can do about it;  banner painting; mural chalking; and much, much more!

Don’t forget to RSVP here!

When:   Wednesday, May 1, 2024 10:00am-3:00pm.

              RTO Power Hour: 12:00-1:00pm
