Scholarshare529 Holiday Gift Card Promotion. Scholarshare529, a state-sponsored, tax-advantaged 529 college savings plan that can help families and individuals plan for the cost of higher education, is giving away $50 gift cards for opening a Scholarshare529 plan starting December 7, 2022. To be eligible for the promotion, state employees must: open a new ScholarShare 529 account with a minimum initial contribution of $50, and set up an automatic contribution plan of at least $25 per period for a minimum of six months (payroll deduction is available for State of California employees). Gift cards will be mailed to eligible participants on or before June 30, 2023. CAPS Offices Closed until November 28, 2022. In observance of the State Holidays on November 24 and 25, 2022, the CAPS Offices will be closed. Normal business hours will resume on November 28, 2022.

November 15, 2022. Know Your Rights. State Holidays. The Holidays are fast approaching, and as such, it can be a helpful reminder that CAPS MOU, Section 4.1 entitles State Scientists to several state-observed holidays with pay, in addition to any official State holidays declared by the Governor. The next state-observed holiday with pay is Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 24th), and the Day After Thanksgiving (Friday, November 25th). Additionally, every full- and part-time employee receives one personal holiday each fiscal year. Happy Holidays!
