Great job banding together in recent weeks to participate in solidarity breaks, the teach-in, and lunchtime rallies! Your participation in these CAPS Actions will help your union win at the bargaining table.
CalHR has taken notice – the time is now to act! Our strength is determined by YOU and YOUR colleagues’ continued participation! So let’s keep it up!
CalHR is pushing CAPS to come to an agreement with them by a deadline of August 22, despite their lack of response to our proposals we passed 3 months ago today. So, show up, support your CAPS Bargaining Team, and tell the State how you feel about it!
The Action: RSVP for CAPS Rallies in YOUR Region!
Where: Los Angeles, Oakland, & Sacramento
When: August 16, 23, and 30, respectively, from 12PM-1PM
How to participate: RSVP here to let us know you plan to come to any of the Rallies! Create a poster with CAPS-provided supplies, join your colleagues, and chant your heart out! Tell this Administration that their offer to CAPS is not enough!
The Goal: You and your colleagues will be ramping up the pressure on this Administration! They are hearing from your CAPS Bargaining Team that their offers at the Bargaining Table over the last few years are not enough to come to a full and final Tentative Agreement, and that they need to #ValueScientists! Now, we invite you to come out to the Governor’s Office in Los Angeles, the Frank Ogawa Plaza in Oakland, and/or the West Steps of the State Capitol and deliver this message to the Administration YOURSELF!
Remember: CAPS Rallies are VISUAL Actions! Take to social media to be sure that your efforts are making the loud, proud, positive noise both in-person and to the world at large that your Bargaining Team is sharing you and your colleagues’ demands at the Bargaining Table!
Take a picture of yourself and your colleagues rocking your CAPS green at the Rally! Tag CAPS on social media: @capsscientists (Instagram and Twitter), and use the hashtag #ValueScientists. Email your photos to caps@capsscientists.org to be featured on CAPS’ social media. Go live at the rally. Talk to the media that comes to the rally! Most importantly, just show up!
Your attendance tells this Administration that State Scientists are serious about standing up for our VALUE!
CAPS is not able to secure release time for folks to attend these rallies, so please plan to attend on your own time (i.e. vacation time, annual leave, RDO, etc.).
