Dental and Premier Vision Benefits Dependent Re-Verification (DRV).  The DRV is the process of re-verifying the eligibility of spouses, domestic partners, children, stepchildren, and domestic partner children (family members) for their continued enrollment for state health, dental benefits, and premier vision. The DRV began in 2018. The eligibility of family members is re-verified once every three years. The re-verification period is based on the employee’s birth month. Government Code 19815.9 also requires the employing office to:

  • Verify the eligibility of all dependents prior to enrolling them in health, dental and vision benefits
  • Retain and maintain a record of the verifying documentation for each dependent in the employee’s official personnel file
  • Validate/re-verify dependent eligibility at least once every three years for most dependents
  • Remove unverified dependents from benefits coverage

This year, the DRV cycle is kicking off with the March birth month. Be sure to respond to requests from your HR to ensure your dependent’s continued coverage!

January 17, 2023. Sacramento Regional STEM Fair Calls for Judges. CAPS is proud to count ourselves among several longtime sponsors of the 2023 Sacramento Regional STEM Fair (Sac STEM Fair).  CAPS members volunteer to judge projects at this annual Fair while earning Mentoring Leave, pursuant to CalHR Manual, Section 2119. This year, the Fair will kick off on March 18, 2023 with expected judging hours to take up to 4 hours per volunteer judging assignment for volunteer credit. Up to 40 hours of Mentoring Leave can be earned per calendar year. Members use their own leave credits, and then are provided an equal number of hours as Mentoring Leave. Judges will receive a commemorative Judges’ T-shirt. If you can help, please complete the online judging registration here.  You can also email  sacSTEMfair@sacSTEMfair.org with any questions. If you encounter an issue or need help determining how to obtain your Mentoring Leave after you’ve participated as a judge in a Science or STEM Fair, as always, contact CAPS!
