Thursday, May 10, 2018.
Thousands of third through sixth grade students converged on the West Steps of the State Capitol to experience the fascinating world of science at the 30th Annual State Scientist Day, held on May 10! CAPS sponsors State Scientist Day each spring to promote science education and encourage students to explore careers in science. Its lots of fun for the kids and everyone involved!
State Assembly Member Monique Limón (D-Santa Barbara) was CAPS’ 2018 Honorary State Scientist. State Scientist Day is recognized by the State Legislature with Assembly Concurrent Resolution 161.
Thanks to the many state departments and CAPS members who, year after year, support State Scientist Day with time and materials. This year the following Departments participated: Fish and Wildlife, Public Health, Conservation, Fire, Pesticide Regulation, Food and Agriculture, Parks, CalRecycle, Lands Commission, Air Board, Water Board, Water Resources, OEHHA and Energy Commission. Many departments presented more than one exhibit or activity.
See you next year!
